Get Graffik

If you’re the type of person who likes to do something “active” (in the non-dirty sense) on a date, Graffik’s street art workshop might be your bag.

Graffik is primarily a small gallery in Notting Hill specialising in urban art, but on weekends they offer us common people the chance to become street artists in their graffiti-ed workshop round the back of the gallery.

Graffik Workshop

Those with little to no artistic ability need not worry (see below “masterpiece” for details), as there are professionals on hand to help at every stage. First you need to choose your design and create a stencil. Tip: if you come prepared with a print out of your chosen stencil, this eliminates the laborious task of drawing your own. If you’re feeling particularly lazy, there are lots of ready-made stencils available for your use. The fun part comes when you get spraying. Donning full body suits and goggles, you can practise your spray can technique on the workshop walls before applying it to your A4 canvas.

Graffik Cans

Workshops run at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on weekends, or if you’re a group of 8+ you can arrange a private session (which not only gives you the whole gallery to yourselves but also allows you to BYO food and booze).

Graffik Masterpiece

If you’re looking for a bite to eat after the spray-painting fun, nearby Tonda (mysteriously called Croccante if you Google it) does delicious pizzetas. And if you’re having a really great time, why not continue the date by sharing a sofa at Electric Cinema?

Date factor: great for first dates, 100th dates, double dates, mate dates
Price: £35pp to create A4-sized masterpiece to take home
Getting there: 5-minute walk from Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park stations
