I know a guy (who will not be named) who bought an annual membership pass to the London Zoo. In an attempt to be original he would take his dates there for a fun day out – it’s more creative than going for drinks, right?
Well I would totally fall for that kind of date and I’ve been to the London Zoo Lates – the grown-up version of the kids’ day out where only adults are allowed in and the zoo stays open until 10pm.
Sea Life London Aquarium has exactly the same gig – and I promise you will have a whale of a time!
There’s an option to buy a glass of prosecco with your ticket – a guaranteed great way to start a date. You’ll then be given free reign to explore the aquarium at your own pace, starting by walking over a tunnel of sharks. Eek!
Jellyfish, sea turtles, sting rays, sharks, fish I can’t remember the name of – there’s a wide variety of species to view.
My favourite, and everyone else’s apparently, was the penguin exhibit. We lingered for about 15 minutes, transfixed on the lovable furry creatures swimming and nose-diving into the water. That damn John Lewis ad.
Everyone seemed to be on a first or second date, so maybe it isn’t as original as I thought… But it is an alternative to a Friday night drinking session.
Date factor: First date, 100th date
