We all love a good fad in London and the latest one to hit Brick Lane is… rainbow bagels!
Disclaimer: they’re a lot nicer than they look!
It’s not like the Beigel Shop (on 155 Brick Lane) needs to pull in extra customers. On an average day you have to queue for those delicious, less than £1 traditional Jewish bagels filled with salt beef, smoked salmon, cream cheese and the like.
And it’s the same story a few doors down at Beigel Bake (159 Brick Lane), which serves virtually the same menu at similar prices.
But the Beigel Shop has managed to outsmart its next door competitor and has just started serving the amazing RAINBOW bagel, inspired by the eateries across the pond in Brooklyn!
The colourful, psychedelic treats are made using the same process as the original bagels, just with doses and doses of food colouring. They taste pretty much exactly the same as the normal ones… but are ten times more Instagram worthy #foodporn #foodgasm.
We had to queue for about 20 minutes on a Sunday but considering the value and price, it’s definitely worth it! To prolong your date, meander down Brick Lane and head to the Sunday Upmarket to check out the incredible street food and vintage markets.
Date factor: day date, mates dates, 100th date
Price: less than £2 for a filled bagel
Getting there: 5-minute walk from Shoreditch High Street station
